This interactive installation reimagines an old analog CRT television, merging past and present through a combination of hardware modifications and digital programming. The project involves mounting, wiring, and integrating HDMI-to-RCA converters, allowing modern digital devices to interface with the outdated TV technology.
At its core, the installation features a webcam positioned to capture real-time footage of people passing by, displaying their image directly on the CRT screen with the studio’s logo superimposed. This transformation challenges the original limitations of CRT technology, turning a once-passive device into an interactive experience.
By repurposing an analog television—originally designed solely for one-way content consumption—this installation not only breathes new life into obsolete technology but also redefines its function, making it responsive and participatory. The juxtaposition of vintage aesthetics and modern interactivity invites audiences to reflect on the evolution of media, the role of technology in our lives, and how past and present can coexist in innovative ways.
This project was exhibited at the 10th edition of "Creación y Arte Joven", organized by the City Council and the Casa de Cultura of Guardamar del Segura, at the Museo de Casa de Cultura.
